De landelijke fietstocht voor kinderen met metabole ziekten
In Nederland worden zo’n 800 kinderen per jaar geboren met een metabole ziekte. Het grootste deel overlijdt voor de 18de verjaardag omdat er nog geen behandeling is. Metabole ziekten, in de volksmond ook wel stofwisselingsziekten genoemd, zijn waarschijnlijk doodsoorzaak nummer 1 onder Nederlandse kinderen. 

For the third time the “WAKZ Loop” is organized which will lead you through and around the Leiden University Medical Center as well as Leiden Bio Science Park. As a sponsor you can support this run and therefore an attractive sponsor package has been composed.

Bedrijfsvoetbal organizes an outdoor Football league Six-a Side once a month for the Leiden Bio Science companies starting Monday evening April 2nd. The program and dates can be found on the website. The League’s goal is to foster mutual understanding in an informal sportive way.

On 6 and 7 June 2012 we, employees of Applied Microspheres and Distrilab, will cycle for 30 million euro’s!  Alpe d'HuZes is the cycling event where the participants individually or in a team, will climb the France mountain Alpe d'Huez six times on one day. Not for “fun”, but to collect money for the Dutch KWF cancer foundation.

On March 3 Hogeschool Leiden organizes for the seventh consecutive year Life Science Open. Register now! The level is not important since the playing strengths will be taken into account.

For 3FM Serious Request, 27 Leiden mothers have made a sofa in mosaic. This Serious Sofa will be sold on the auction site for 3FM Serious Request. The proceeds go entirely to the Red Cross.

What are you doing on Christmas Eve? The Red Cross is looking for enthusiastic volunteers for the honor guard to give the DJ’s a warm welcome when they leave “het Glazen Huis” on December 24th.

During Serious Request 2011 in Leiden people can have made a so called OLF-photograph of their teeth for a fee of at least 50 cents. All donations will benefit Serious Request. The result, an indication of how clean the mouth, get the person by mail. This initiative is a collaboration between TNO, Inspektor en Van Venrooy Utility Vehicles.

Also the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) supports the action of Serious Request by offering health tests to the public. On December 19, 20, 22 and 23, at the Sports and Healthy Square (the temporary name of the Town Hall Square), a trailer will be in place where the shopping people can test their health and vitality against payment.
On Wednesday, December 21 this trailer will be placed at the LUMC campus.

Lunch in a real dinosaur, a private exhibition in a national museum and a tour of master pieces in the usually closed collection tower.
From 18 to December 24, the Glass House will be set up in Leiden. NCB Naturalis supports the 3FM action and therefore auctions these special experiences. The revenue will be donated to mothers in war zones.

“Affordable Art for 3FM” is an online ‘silent’ auction for 3FM’s Serious Request - a fundraising campaign in conjunction with the Red Cross to raise money for mothers affected by war & conflict situations. In at least 25 countries throughout the world more than 10 million mothers are affected by war – they lose everything, have to flee, have no food, clean water or healthcare and are the victims of sexual abuse. They are left behind to care for their family alone.

Less than 11 days and Serious Request starts at de Beestenmarkt in Leiden. 3FM Serious Request is looking for volunteers who are willing to assist with various activities such as volunteers at the post box or at the check registration, Check for the job profiles the attachments.

The biggest charity mobile phone collection is going live
To help the Brain Foundation Netherlands raise funds, Leiden Bio Science Park supports the possibly biggest charity mobile phone collection of the Netherlands and the massive roll out to approach thousands of people has begun.

De ondernemersverenigingen van Leiden hebben de handen ineen geslagen om op 15 december a.s. tijdens Serious Dance geld in te zamelen voor dit goede doel. En het mooie is: u hoeft er niets voor te doen! Sterker nog: we bieden u een ontspannen, leuke en gezellige avond vol entertainment aan. U hoeft slechts aanwezig te zijn!

The WAKZ-run, Sunday, November 6th, broke all records! The number of participants doubled (553 participants) and so did the amount of money collected. Bart Bartels, business manager at the Willem-Alexander Children Foundation is extremely happy with this success. “The amount of money collected is more than €15.000. That is a fantastic result.” The money will be spent on different projects with the aim to improve the quality of life of the children in the Willem-Alexander Children Hospital.

Seven training days (Saturdays from 9.00-11.00) with the focus on proper running technique, breathing and building up.
Learn how to get more out of running. After attending the clinic, as a beginner you will be able to accomplish the WAKZ-run successfully.

Thursday 15 September 2011 starting at 5 PM in CORPUS, there will be a workshop “IMPROVE YOUR SHAPE”.
This workshop will be the first activity of the Willem-Alexander Children Hospital-run 2011, that will take place in and through the LUMC on 6th of November.
