Multi-tenant facilities

For small to midsize life science companies that need to grow beyond the “incubator” building stage, the park offers premises in multi-tenant buildings. These include:

• Beagle buildings
  
• Sirius buildings
  
• Crown Biolab & OVA building

Beagle Buildings
The Beagle buildings are dedicated to life science and other high-grade technological companies that have successfully passed the start-up phase and have grown out of the “incubator” buildings, but cannot yet make large scale investments. It is often difficult for companies at this stage of growth to find suitable premises. The Beagle buildings are designed to meet all biotechnology and pharmaceutical laboratory requirements and its layout can be adapted to the tenant’s needs.

The first Beagle building, Beagle Darwin, is located on the Darwinweg and contains 2600 m2 of offices and 3900 m2 of laboratory space. Current occupants include the companies Pharming, Microsafe and Galapagos. The building is fully occupied now.

PCS Design & Construction and building contractor Aanneming Maatschappij J.P. van Eesteren B.V. is building the second Beagle building just a block away at the Zernikedreef. The new building Beagle Zernike will contain 3000 m2 of laboratory space and 1000 m2 office space. Construction is due to start in 2009.

Sirius Buildings
The Sirius Buildings, located on the Bio Science Park in Leiden, are named after the two whitest stars of our cosmos: Sirius A and Sirius B. The two separate buildings are connected by a monumental entrance. The buildings are dedicated to life science and other high-grade technological companies. The buildings are designed to meet all biotechnology and pharmaceutical laboratory requirements. The layout of the buildings can be adapted to the tenant’s needs.
The first building, Sirius A, is located on Mendelweg 30 and contains 6.000 sqm of office space. The building is fully occupied by Dutch Space, an EADS Astrium company. Dutch Space is a supplier of subsystems for the European space industry. It is the main player of the Dutch space industry.

Sirius B is the second building, which is located on Mendelweg 32. This building has a size of 4.000 sqm office and laboratory space and is still available for rent. Sirius B is also available for multi-tenant use.
