From February 6th to April 23d,  2012, the SBB department of Leiden University will start with the course Research Based Business Ventures (formerly known as Orientation on Technopreneurship or OoT).

Objective of the courses is to learn about the process of creating and building companies that have the aim to create products and services based on knowledge generated in scientific research.

The courses are specifically suited for science students and (future) researchers who are interested in the commercial application of science and technology and the creation of new, science-based companies. Also PhD-students, faculty staff and employees in the Leiden Bioscience Park can participate!

Some of the reasons to participate may be:

  • orientation on and preparing for internships and career opportunities in areas like technology transfer, investment banking, new business development, and working in entrepreneurial, science-based companies;
  • preparing for one day (helping) establish a new, research-based company;
  • increase understanding of high tech business and industry;
  • general interest in entrepreneurship and the process of commercializing science and technology.


All of the course sessions are in the evenings, hence the course will not interfere with daytime activities.
 
Participation fee for non-students are: 500 Euros.
