The Taiwan Liposome Company (TLC) opened their European Office at Leiden Bio Science Park. This new establishment will serve as the pivotal point for TLC’s technical collaborations and product launches in the European region.

TLC is a specialty biopharmaceutical company focused on the research, development and commercialization of  innovative pharmaceutical products targeted at infectious diseases, cancers, peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).  TLC is looking at launching into the European market a number of therapeutic products with improved formulation over the next couple of years through the newly established TLC Biopharmaceuticals B.V. and its local distribution partners.

TLC’s Chairman and Founder, Dr. Keelung Hong, shared his reasoning behind the decision of choosing Leiden Bio Science Park as the site for TLC’s European operations: “We are very much impressed by the dedication shown by the Dutch Government in developing the biotech industry: their efforts can be seen by the facilities and support provided.  Leiden Bio Science Park offers a full range of versatile facilities that is ideal for companies looking to grow from a startup business into a larger-scale enterprise.   The cluster of multinational biotech companies in the Park also facilitates the collaboration between TLC and fellow biotech partners, and can thus lead to technology advancements for all parties involved.”

In the process of setting up this new establishment, TLC’s President, George Yeh, is very impressed by the prompt support provided by NFIA and WFIA.  “NFIA and WFIA have been extremely helpful in providing TLC with all the necessary information and knowledge for setting up an office in the EU.  We’re deeply appreciative of the assistance given by NFIA and WFIA, and we feel more at ease knowing that they will continue to be a strong support for TLC’s operation in the EU.”

George concluded by saying “TLC is striving to become a global company with local penetration, and we believe we have made the best choice by locating in the Leiden Bio Science Park.  We’re very excited about the opportunities this new establishment would bring and the advancements TLC will be making through collaborations in the Netherlands.”
