During the Dutch Life Sciences week at the Shanghai World Expo the Leiden Bio Science Park closed two important deals. A new Chinese/Dutch joint venture company will be located at the Leiden Bio Science Park. The park also signed a cooperation agreement with a Chinese science park.

The Japanese pharma concern Astellas has decided to move to the Leiden Bio Science Park. On behalf of Astellas, Mr Masao Yoshida, President and CEO, has signed a contract with Leiden University, owner of the land, and with project developer G&S Vastgoed (Real Estate).
The new building, which will be completed at the end of 2012, will also house an ultramodern laboratory for scientific research.

Thursday the 21st of January the Expat Centre Leiden was officially opened by Marc Witteman (alderman of Economic Affairs and Sports at the municipality of Leiden) and Willem te Beest, Vice President of Leiden University. The Expat Centre Leiden is the new regional information desk for high skilled migrants living in the Leiden region.

During the Life Sciences Capitals congress, which was held November 9th in Leiden, the Leiden Bio Science Park was awarded the annual Mibiton Quality Certificate. The Leiden Bio Science Park received  the Quality Certificate because over the years Mibiton invested most in innovative companies at the Leiden Bio Science Park.

Companies at the Leiden Bio Science Park are hardly affected by the financial crisis. There is a large demand for innovative biotech medicines, there are many job opportunities and companies conclude large business deals. New companies establish themselves at the park and the Leiden Bio Science Park foundation is negotiating with several parties looking for new premises.

Leiden Bio Science Park is awarded best business park of the Netherlands in 2009. Leiden won the prize for its daring choice to specialize in biomedical life science and making a success out of it.
